The brief from the client’s end was comprehensive & clear in its directions. The Modi’s required the space to have a free-flowing layout that reflected an ‘openness’ in its essence. Mrs. Radhika Modi hails from a background of fine arts & has a penchant for artistic elements. Travel is also an extension of the family’s lifestyle & they often bring back memoirs & souvenirs from many a travel across the globe.The living area is a warm welcome into the space with its rustic interplay of earthy tones of red & olive green in the form of sofa units. A stark wooden finish wall in conjunction with the frosted glass sepia-hued door makes for a minimalistic backdrop, against which the living room comes to life. A raw exposed brick wall punctuates the living space with its stark presence. The ‘L’-shaped kitchen is complete with a sleek black granite breakfast counter that is the nucleus of all activities. The dining area is set against an eclectic wall dotted with handmade Sri Lankan crockery & copper glass ceiling paneling. The cabinetry through this zone is a lustrous hue of forest green that renders the surfaces a glossy appearance due to the usage of paint laminate. The children’s bedroom is a fresh & vivid take on a space that has the ability to respond to the growing needs of the young family members. A patterned geometric wallpaper, teal study table unit, wardrobes & a dresser define the functional attributes of the space.
